The 1920's original shop on Higher Bridge
Street, Bolton, owned by England cricket star Len Tobutt |

Moving on a little, but still on Higher Bridge
Street this time in the 1950's |

By the 1980's and 90's the shop had moved to Blackburn Road,
Bolton. Current owner Dougie Tobutt pictured here on the
right with Sir Nat Lofthouse of Bolton Wanderers FC in the
new shop.

And Finally up to date. The new shop now located across

Tobutt Sports was established way back in 1923 and
is still a family run business, now spanning four generations.
Len Tobutt was a professional cricketer from Middlesex, and in
the early 1900's he got invited to Scotland to show the Scots how
to hold a bat.
After settling in Bolton in 1920 he opened the shop in 1923. However,
he carried on playing cricket well in to his seventies.
The business specialises in a host of sports including running,
football, cricket, swimming, racket sports, rugby, rounders, darts
and dominoes.
The present owner is now Dougie (Seen in the above 1990's picture
on the right with Sir Nat Lofthouse of Bolton Wanderers FC). His
preference in sport was football and squash and he ran his first
marathon in 1981. In 2005 he accomplished his goal running his 100th
marathon.
Expert advice is always at hand. The staff includes sports therapists
and coaches.
The store offers a wide range of services including foot gait analysis
to ensure you buy the right running shoe, racket re-stringing, bowls
renovation and engraving, cues re-tipped, and also a printing and
embroidery service at very competitive prices.
